The database that never sleeps

On switch

Continuous

Downtime — both planned and unplanned — costs money. Unavailable data will lose your business thousands an hour. A database outage in a trading firm that relies on continuous transactions would lose millions per hour of downtime. For operational systems the cost may include lost business and customer good will.

Ancelus is the world’s first continuous operation database. No trickery; no background replication; no sharding, layering or distribution of data to other nodes. Ancelus does it on a single database in memory, while it is operational. Short of a hardware fault, you can expect no downtime. Ever.

Live data

Other vendors offer similar uptime claims, but it’s achieved using distributed relational databases or other data splitting techniques which add complexity, unpredictability and cost to the system. Ancelus does it in one database and, since the schema never needs reindexing, 100% uptime is truly achievable with a tiny footprint.

Under Ancelus, all DBA functions occur with the database live and in constant operation. This includes schema changes. Add or drop a column and users never detect the change. Operational applications no longer need to go down for re-indexing, de-frag or other routine maintenance: you can remove data from the database without shutdown or even detectable locking (a few nanoseconds). The freed space is immediately available for re-use.

Try that with your relational system.

Backups

Ancelus never goes down for backup; this critical admin function is a continuous operation. It can be configured to run as a shadow transaction stream, or as a fully functional replicate database maintained in real-time.

To protect from hardware failures, the real-time replicate can operate across a network with hot failover. No other system has offered this level of performance or reliability.

The patented Ancelus technology achieves these magical feats without any of the traditional tricks of the trade. The Ancelus team rejected the traditional methods of duplication, sharding, distributed data, or any of the other marginal processes that add complexity and compromise reliability.

Your database need never be the excuse for losing money.
